Senior Principal Data Architect –

Job Summary:

In this position, you will be responsible for articulating and driving aspects of the architectural vision and strategy for our data and reporting solutions as well, you will be responsible for developing and validating the architecture and solution design aligned to critical business capabilities. You will play a leadership role on the Architecture team and act as the technical Product Owner for our Business Reporting and internal Analytics products. You will provide technical expertise, guide, and mentor development teams on methodologies, processes, best practices on data architectures, data security, and API-enabled data services.


The role is meant to take internal data, create and execute on a Master Data Management (MDM) strategy and help lead a team that will create the next generation of customer-facing reports.

• Provide design and technical oversight for one or more technical teams

• Lead data architecture and data technical design for multiple business units across our global organization

• Recommends emerging technological solutions to increase market share and reduce operational costs

• Work on various database technologies, reporting frameworks, and Business Intelligence tools

• Review and ensure architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible, and cost-effective

• Review and ensure data security and privacy standards are implemented

• Work with application teams to identify functional requirements that drive technology that enables business functionality

• Design and maintain database structures including tables, views, synonyms, sequences, triggers, procedures, functions, indexes, materialized views, partitioning strategies, and compression

• Helps develop architectural strategies, best practices, and technical direction which allows the business to deliver new customer engagement models

• Develop the data architecture and governance models for systems of engagement and provide the framework for integrating source systems with the transactional databases, NoSQL data stores, and data warehouses Cassandra, MongoDB, Couchbase , Neo4j, Redis

• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership for data movement strategies, data obfuscation (data masking), record retention strategy (deletion and archival), data infrastructure/security, operational data stores (ODS), and the operational reporting strategy

• Analyze highly complex systems, technical and product issues and help develop solutions and drive systems direction

• Develop and document technology roadmaps

• Analyze data to validate data issues or provide bulk data defect fixes

• Make recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness for core and utility services

• Analyze the technology industry and market trends to determine the potential impact on the business

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Expert in SQL and the design and implementation of OLTP and OLAP data stores

• Data warehousing concepts and techniques

• Master Data Management (MDM) concept, tools, and best practices

• Agile methodology and CI/CD principles

• Knowledgeable in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies.

• Strong leadership skills; coaching and mentoring skills.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control

• High degree of flexibility and ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds

• Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly

• Able to balance the long-term “big picture” and short-term implications of decisions

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline; Master’s preferred.

  1. 15 years of architecture experience in applications development in a complex, multi-platform distributed environment.
